Free Thanksgiving dinnerMeed's United Methodist Church, 126 W. Catawissa St., Nesquehoning will host a free Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday, Nov. 24.There will be two seatings with the first one scheduled for 3 p.m. and the second for 5 p.m. Reservations can be made by contacting Dianne at 570-669-6764 or Mark at 570-669-9444. There will be no take outs.All are welcome to attend the free dinner.Panther ValleyGolden AgersThe Nov. 11 meeting of the Panther Valley Golden Agers was centered on prayers and songs honoring Veterans Day. Ruth Ann Feane led the group singing and honoring all branches of the military.Alex Makita was named chairman of the nominating committee for officers for 2014.One new member was welcomed to the group.The annual Christmas party begin at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1 at La Dolce Casa restaurant in Tamaqua.There will be no meeting on November 25. The next meeting will be held on Dec. 9.LansfordSt. John LutheranTonight at 7 p.m., St. John's Lutheran Church, 1 E. Abbott St., Lansford, will hold an informal worship. This will be a spiritual, peaceful, evening service with Holy Communion. All are welcome to this relaxed, brief, musical, evening prayer.Bible study is offered at 6:30 p.m., following the free, Feed the People Thanksgiving dinner, which begins at 5 p.m.For more information, call the Rev. Ludlow St. The meeting is open to the public.Food pantryThe Summit Hill Food Pantry will be open from 10 a.m. until noon Monday, Nov. 25. The food pantry is located in the Summit Hill Heritage Center on Hazard and Chestnut streets. There is to be no parking in the alley before 9:45 a.m. and absolutely no parking in the vacant lot. Recipients are reminded to bring along extra strong shopping/tote bags.
