Carbon Mountaineers Marine Corps League Detachment 996 was awarded first place for the Americanism Award for the third year in the row. They competed among 23 Detachments in the category, which is with five to 50 members. The unit has 17 members. In addition to normal veteran activities, they host a community dinner, food drive and offer Eagle Scout scholarships.
