Nesquehoning police arrested Anthony Schiano, 37, of 58A W. Columbus Ave., Nesquehoning, after police observed him with what appeared to be a weapon on Oct. 31 at 6:30 p.m. in the 100 block of West Catawissa Street.
Police said they observed Schiano enter an SUV and then remove an item resembling a firearm from a holster concealed on his person.After stopping the SUV in the 200 block of West Mill Street, police identified Schiano and asked him if there were any weapons in his vehicle. The man then indicated he had a taser on his person that he carries for personal protection. Police said he proceeded to remove the taser with an attached cartridge from a holster.Police said the man indicated to them he was unaware that it was illegal to possess a taser for personal protection.He was charged with a misdemeanor offense of prohibited offensive weapons and a summary traffic charge of required position and method of turning.
