Prothonotary's report

A total of 267 cases were started in October 2013, in the office of Carbon County Prothonotary Joann M. Behrens. A breakdown of the cases:Assessment appeals, 2; civil actions, 35; custody complaints, 16; district justice appeals, 5; divorce complaints, 18; complaints in ejectment, 5; license appeals, 3; mortgage foreclosure complaints, 31; name change petition, 1; complaint in partition, 1; protection from abuse petitions, 32; replevin complaints, 1; tax sales, 5; zoning appeal, 1; court appointment, 1; judgments, 102; miscellaneous, 5; stipulations/waivers of liens , 2; and writ of executions, 1. The office staff also received and processed 35 applications for U.S. Passports.Behrens' financial report shows $29,384 was generated as follows: prothonotary's fees, $24,971; PFA Surcharge, courts,$25; PFA Surcharge, Sheriff, $25; custody fees, $400; data processing fees, $3,962.The prothonotary also remitted $3,705 the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Revenue, representing state fees collected locally, and $66 to the Administrative Offices of the Pennsylvania Courts, this being surcharges on new custody cases in accordance with Act 119 of 1996.
