A Schuylkill County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following an incident that occurred about 1 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 4, at the intersection of Crescent St. and SR209, in Tremont.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Steven M. Smith, 26, of Pine Grove, was stopped for a traffic violation. He was suspected to be under the influence of a controlled substance and was taken into custody and transported to the barracks where a drug recognition expert peformed an evaluation.He was then taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center-S. Jackson St., Pottsville, for a blood test. The DUI charge is pending the test results, troopers said.
