A total of 38,536 Carbon County residents are eligible to participate in the 2013 General Election that will take place from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the 51 election districts throughout the county's 23 municipalities.

That number is 415 people less than were eligible to vote in the presidential election of 2012 (38,951), and about 1,000 more electors more than were registered in 2011 (37,564).The Democratic Party continues to maintain a registration plurality over the Republican. Registration totals certified by the Carbon County Board of Elections show there are 18,640 registered Democrats in the county, compared to 14,520 Republicans, giving the Democrats an advantage of 4,120 voters. In 2012, its advantage was 4,269 voters.There are also 2,673 persons who opt to have no party affiliation who are eligible to vote in the general election, as well as 1,077 persons who have declared themselves as "nonpartisans."
