A Lehighton man admitted to sexual assault of a teenage girl.

Franklin Derr III, 23, pleaded guilty on Monday before Carbon County Judge Steven R. Serfass to one count of statutory sexual assault.He was charged by Lehighton police with having sexual intercourse with a then 13-year-old girl. The assault occurred on June 21, 2012, at a residence in the borough.The girl reported the incident to police and claimed Deer had raped her. Derr's attorney Paul Levy claimed the sexual encounter was consentual.In a plea bargain charges of aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault of a person less than 16, corruption of a minor, and indecent assault were dropped.The charge does not fall under the provisions of Megan's Law.Serfass deferred sentencing and ordered the adult probation office to prepare a presentence investigation report.
