Board issues proclamations

Four proclamations were adopted by the Schuylkill County Commissioners at Wednesday's public meeting held at the courthouse in Pottsville paying tribute to people and organizations who work to make the county an ideal place to live.

A proclamation was adopted designating Wednesday, Oct. 23, as "Red Ribbon Week" calling attention to the work performed by the Schuylkill County Drug and Alcohol agency's commitment to a drug-free style and its dedicated work with school students to make them aware of the destructiveness of illegal drugs cause to humans.A proclamation was adopted designating Saturday, Oct. 26, as "Make A Difference Day" to call attention to the many volunteers who provide service to help solve serious problems and bridge differences that separate people.A proclamation was adopted designating the week of Oct. 27 through Nov. 2 as "Schuylkill County Farm/City Week," to point out the working together of the farming and urban communities to further economic growth in order to preserve and to protect a healthy environment, as well as providing food and fresh water supplies for all citizens.A proclamation was adopted proclaiming the month of October as "Schuylkill County Chamber of Commerce Month," pointing out the offering of 835 member companies to provide skill development programs to increase business efficiency and also assisting with operating cost control.
