A Monroe County woman is facing a charge of retail theft and related counts for an incident at the Weis Market, located at SR209 and Weir Lake Road, in Brodheadsville, Chestnuthill Township.

State police at Fern Ridge said Michelle Ann Loper, 47, of Effort, an employee of the store, is accused of stealing items from the store during a 20-month period. She confessed to stealing cigarettes and groceries during the period of February 2012 to Tuesday, Oct. 22, at 10 a.m. when she was arrested at the store. About $1,800 worth of merchandise was taken, troopers said.
