A former employee at the Boyer's Food Mart in Tamaqua has been charged with theft.

Borough police charged Kristina Marie Martin, 19, of 311 Clark St., Tamaqua, with theft by unlawful taking, theft by deception, receiving stolen property and theft by failure to make the required disposition of funds after she allegedly used her position as a cashier to steal $400.14. According to police, Martin allegedly rang up customer transactions, took cash payments, then voided the transactions. The thefts took place between Sept. 13 and Oct. 5. She was fired on Oct. 8.
