Two placed in probation program

Two people were placed in Carbon County's Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program for first time offenders last week.

If they complete the program their record is wiped clean. However, if they fail to complete it, or are revoked from it, then they face trial on all pending charges. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.Placed by President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II were:Michael Kevin McTernan, 50, of East Stroudsburg, on a charge of driving under the influence. He was arrested on May 17 along Maury Road, in Penn Forest Township, by state police at Lehighton. Given a test, the result showed the presence of a controlled substance.He was placed for a year and was assessed $600 for the cost of the program and ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment, license suspended for 60 days, and render 20 hours of community service.Jake Justin Solomon, 20, of Philadelphia, and formerly of Albrightsville, was placed on charges of DUI and possession of a small amount of marijuana. He was arrested on Feb. 15 along Route 209 in Towamensing Township by state police at Lehighton. Given a test, the result showed the presence of a controlled substance.He was placed for a year, assessed $650, and ordered to get a D&A evaluation, zero tolerance on D&A use, and license suspended for 90 days.Each defendant must also pay court costs, which average close to $1,000, and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program.
