The flaming foliage turned white overnight as an unprecedented October snowfall hid the landscape plastered with up to four inches of wet snow today.

Snow-laden tree branches were bent over, sometimes obstructing roads and causing power failures, cinder trucks were out and drivers slowed down in places where roads were covered with white slush.Roads and streets were only wet in places, but motorists this morning found substantial accumulations of snow on their cars.Most people haven't gotten around to getting snow tires on their cars and there were some situations this morning where they would have come in handy, especially on the mountain roads where the snow had more sticking power.
