Halloween parade

This Sunday is the Eldred Township Halloween Parade. It will begin at 1 p.m. The rain date is Sunday, Oct. 27. (Check website

http://eldredtownshiphalloweenparade.vivti.com for cancellation news.)Check-in time is at St. Matthew's UCC's church grove between 11 a.m. and noon. Judging will begin promptly at 12:15 p.m. Only preregistered applicants will be judged but anyone is welcome to come dressed and be a part of the parade. There will be no registrations the day of the parade.The parade route begins at the grove, will pass by the church on to Fiddletown Road, then on to Kunkletown Road with the final destination of the Kunkletown Volunteer Fire Company.Trunk or TreatSt. Matthew's UCC will host a Trunk or Treat event for children of the community on Sunday, Oct. 27 from 3-5 p.m. in the parking lot. There will be parked cars with their trunks or the backs of their vehicles, decorated in a theme, and treats will be handed out.In addition to treats, there will be face painting, a pumpkin craft, cupcake decorating and more. The public will be invited to vote for their favorite Trunk.If you would like to be a part of this event or donate candy to be handed out, call 610-381-2442.Bible studyThe Rev. Suzanne Brooks-Cope, pastor, St. Matthew's UCC, will conduct a Bible Study, "When Grief Breaks Your Heart" for anyone struggling with death and loss, no matter how long it has been, is on Tuesdays at 1 p.m.Operation: Touch of HomeSt. Matthew's is still collecting items to make care packages for our servicemen and women overseas to be sent for Christmas. Bring your donations to the church and they will see that Operation: Touch of Home receives them.PVENPleasant Valley Ecumenical Network shelves are bare. They need everything from peanut butter, jelly, macaroni and cheese, soups, canned goods, cereals, tuna fish, to any nonperishable items. You can bring these items to St. Matthew's church during office hours on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. or Sundays, 8-11:30 a.m.Chestnut Ridge SeniorsThe Chestnut Ridge Seniors will meet at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 24 at the Kunkletown Volunteer Fire Co. Wear Halloween costumes. Bring a bag lunch but cider and doughnuts will be served. They will also be playing bingo. Bring prizes.Exercising seniorsThere is a low-impact exercise class for those over 55 at the Kunkletown Volunteer Fire Company every Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30-10 a.m.
