Pleasant Valley football coach becomes an ice cream sundae

Kayla Wolf of Pleasant Valley High School's Leo Club and the PVHS student body watched and cheered as PV's football coach Jimmy Terwilliger became the school's first human ice cream sundae at the pep rally.

"The outcome was awesome," said Kayla.Kiki Adams, a PVHS senior and a member of the Leo Club and the Diversity Club, suggested holding a Penny War to raise money for the National Brain Tumor Society, which funds research to cure brain tumors, especially in children, as a part of the unorganized movement to spread hope and positivity throughout the district and community through acts of kindness and spreading the message.Nine departments in the school each selected one teacher to represent it. Each of those nine teachers had their picture on an empty water jug placed throughout the school.Everyone was invited to bring in as many pennies as they could. Every penny was worth one point. The jug that had the least amount of points was the science department and Coach Terwilliger willingly let himself be slathered in ice cream complete with sprinkles."It was especially fun to see him get ice creamed because everyone knows and loves him, and he was such a good sport," said Kayla. The Penny War collected $916.22 for the National Brain Tumor Society. Now that's really sweet.
