An elderly man involved in a two-car crash Friday in Mahoning Township has died from his injuries.

Police said William Graver, 83, of Franklin Township died in St. Luke's Medical Center, Fountain Hill, where he was flown by PennStar helicopter.Two other people in the incident were transported by ambulance to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest. They are Perma Graver, 81, a passenger in his car, and Rebecca Boyer, 28, of Tamaqua, who was a driver of the second car involved in the crash.The conditions of the two women were not known this morning.Audie Mertz, officer in charge of the Mahoning Township Police Department, reported that Graver died yesterday.The crash happened at about 11:30 a.m. Friday in front of the TIMES NEWS building.Police report that a car driven by Graver pulled from the parking lot of the TIMES NEWS onto Route 443 and into the path of Boyer's vehicle, a 2001 Dodge Neon.The 2012 Toyota Corolla that Graver was driving was struck on the driver's side by the Boyer vehicle.All three people were entrapped in their respective vehicles and had to be extricated by members of the Mahoning Valley and Lehighton Fire Departments, who used power tools.Passers-by stopped to help the individuals immediately after the crash occurred. A nurse assisted and an unidentified man tried to pry the doors of the vehicle open with a crowbar.Mertz said Route 443 was shut down for about 45 minutes as a result of the accident.Also responding were Mahoning Township Ambulance and two units from the Lehighton Ambulance Association.Mertz said none of the people in the accident were wearing a seatbelt, and Boyer's air bag failed to deploy.
