The 14th annual Lights On Afterschool program will take place across the country on Thursday.

In Carbon County, the Carbon and Schuylkill SHINE and Career Academy will hold a special assembly for the community at 5 p.m., Thursday, at Carbon Career & Technical Institute, 150 W. 13th St., Jim Thorpe.All are welcome to attend.This year's theme is "Keep Shining with STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics)."Following the program, light refreshments will be served.For more information, contact the SHINE Afterschool office at (570) 325-2771 or email
