Catholics gather to pray for rosary

As our world turns more and more to violence to resolve everything from differing opinions to boredom, our entertainment continues to become more vulgar and degrading, and our language more coarse and crude, small groups of the faithful will turn to prayer on Saturday in an effort to elevate the human spirit.

Across the nation, Catholics will gather at noon to publicly pray the rosary.Locally, groups will meet at Ludlow Park in Summit Hill; Kennedy Park on West Patterson Street and in front of St. John's Byzantine Catholic Church on Bertsch Street in Lansford; and at Depot Park in Tamaqua. The public prayers will be said under the auspices of America Needs Fatima, a "spiritual crusade to save America," according to the organization's website. It anticipates 11,122 rallies will be held."Our goal is to counter the destructive secular agenda, asking God to guide every aspect of our society. As human efforts have failed to solve America's key problems, we ask His immediate help for our nation's leadership. He will hear our prayers, especially if we pray the Rosary of His Blessed Mother. Without prayer, and specifically the Rosary, we will not find solutions to our nation's many problems," the group's website says.
