A well-written column

Good morning

Thank you for the Michael Stafford column "Humanizing Savage Capitalism" It is a concise and well written article on a most important message to be brought to our worldPope Francis has called out the culture of "savage capitalism" where the individual is reduced to a commodity in the production process and a creature of constant consumerism. He has called all of us to recognize we are on a path of a disposable culture controlled by the "absolute autonomy of markets and financial speculation. The will to power and of possession has become limitless".Pope Francis asks us to recognize "the cause of this situation to be our relationship with money and our acceptance of its power over ourselves and our society; consequently, the financial crisis we are experiencing makes us forget its ultimate origin is to be found in a profound human crisis, the denial of the primacy of human beings"Every person must hear this message, realize they are not powerless and do not have to submit to this extreme culture. We must take the time to commit ourselves to pursuit of a new culture that sees each person as spiritual as well as material, created in the image of God.We must affirmatively and constantly be willing to recognize God's presence in our daily world, in our daily lives, and in each other. God and ethics should have a primary role in our lives, in business and society. It is then we can say we have achieved not only an economic recovery but a societal and cultural recovery as well.Thank youDan MiscavigeWeatherly
