Indians clinch berths in soccer, v-ball

Lehighton teams clinched postseason berths in boys soccer and girls volleyball, while Pleasant Valley picked up wins in boys soccer, girls hockey and girls volleyball.

BOYS SOCCERLehighton-ES SouthThe Indians defeated the Cavaliers 2-1 in a Mountain Valley Conference contest and qualified for the District 11 playoffs for the first time in school history.Anthony Rossino and Chris Lawler scored the goals for Lehighton. Zach Christoff had assists on both.Lehighton goalie Tyler Dietz made 12 saves and Pat Dykert had four. Sabovie had both assists for the Bears.Nikki Brigante scored the lone goal for Pocono Mountain West on an assist from Jessica Boutieller.The Bears outshot the Panthers 8-4.VOLLEYBALLLehighton-ES NorthWith a 25-14, 25-7, 25-13 Mountain Valley Conference victory over East Stroudsburg North, Lehighton improved to 9-3 on the season and officially qualified for the District 11 Tournament.Jackie Jordan paced Lehighton with three aces, six kills and eight digs. Kayla Troutman added four kills, four digs and one ace.The Lehighton JV team also swept the Timberwolves.Pleasant Vy.-FreedomPleasant Valley disposed of Freedom in four games, 25-21, 25-17, 21-25, 25-17.Seniors MacKenzie Dorney (nine kills, 12 digs) and Courtney Miller (10 kills, three blocks) led Pleasant Valley, while juniors Kiersten Griesback (20 assists, seven digs) and Katie Lenhart (14 digs, three aces) also contributed to the winning effort. Freshman Noel Kelly registered nine kills and seven blocks for the Lady Bears.
