Lansford man cited by Tamaqua police

A Lansford man will be cited by Tamaqua police following a vehicle stop on Sept. 15. The incident took place at 1:52 a.m. in the area of Mauch Chunk Street and the Five Points Intersection.

Rolando Martin Horsford, 33, of 30 1/2 E. Abbott St. was operating a silver Volvo at the time and failed to stop for the red light at the intersection. He then proceeded to pull into a parking space on Mauch Chunk Street, jumping the curb.Patrolman Thomas Rodgers made contact with the driver and asked for his license and vehicle registration. At that time the operator said he was Rocky Horsford and that he did not have a Pennsylvania license, just one issued in New York. A records check found no record of such a license. As the officer spoke with Horsford he detected a strong odor of alcohol and asked him to submit to field sobriety tests. Horsford failed all three. While conducting a pat down search prior to placing the driver in the patrol car the officer came across a wallet, which included a Pennsylvania I.D. card. The card was issued to Rolando Martin Horsford. A new records check was conducted and indicated that Rolando Horsford had driver licenses in both Pennsylvania and New York. Both were suspended for previous DUI incidents. He will be charged with DUI and several other offenses.
