Local youth group organizes for See You at the Pole day

Recently, several Panther Valley High School students and members of the youth group at Church on the Rock in Summit Hill, attended a rally at Baptist Bible College in Clark Summit in preparation for the See You at the Pole global day of student prayer, which is being held at schools across the country on Wednesday morning.

See You at the Pole is an annual meeting for student-led public prayer that began in the early 1990s when a group of teenagers in Burleson, Texas went to three area schools and prayed around the flagpole for their fellow students. The students were also challenged to organize prayer in their public schools.By the next year, the movement went national.By 1998, over three million students around the world were meeting to pray.Gatherings can range from a single individual to groups of several hundred.PVHS 2013 class President Aiden Cleary said this about the annual event, "See You at the Pole is a unique opportunity to come together in an effort to pray for the students of our school, not only for our school but for all schools and all students everywhere. We face more challenges than ever before. It's important to join together to pray for the needs of kids today, whether they are hurting, feeling lost or stressed in everyday life situation. We hope to see more students participate in the coming years."The prayer event takes place at 7 a.m. Wednesday morning at the Panther Valley High School and 7:45 a.m. at the Panther Valley Middle School.Students of all denominations are encouraged to attend.
