Soldier to be remembered during 'Ride with Pride' event

A benefit ride, "Ride With Pride," will take place Saturday at the West Penn Rod and Gun Club. Registration begins at 10 a.m., and the ride will begin at 11.

The ride will remember and celebrate the life of SPC Christina Joy Leone, 21, of New Ringgold, who passed away July 11, 2012 in Richmond Va.She was a CBRN Specialist serving in the U.S. Army at Fort Stewart, Hinesville, Ga.; and was awarded the Army Commendation Medal, posthumously awarded, the Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, posthumously awarded, the National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon and the Army Skill Badge Expert Rifle, and was posthumously promoted to the rank of Specialist. She was the daughter of Wayne A. and Cheryl L. Leone of West Penn Township.The ride will travel to Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, where each rider will have the opportunity to lay a flower on Christina's headstone.The ride will return to the West Penn Rod and Gun Club, where there will be a DJ from 3 to 7 p.m. and other activities and food.All proceeds from the event will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project.For more information, contact Cheryl Leone at (570) 778-2119 or email
