Facelifts make big improvements, but they come with a lot of pain.

That pain is what Palmerton drivers are feeling this week, as the third year of the $1 million makeover of the borough's streets gets under way. The major cross streets, with the exception of Delaware Avenue, will all be under construction.Currently, the wrinkled and pock-marked 80-year-old streets are being reconstructed. When that job is done, the paving will begin.As the street surgeons sharpen their tools and get under way, there's not a lot the Palmerton citizenry can do but grin and bear the pain.
