Diabetes support

St. Luke's University Health Network is sponsoring a Diabetes Support Group. Monthly meetings are held in the Miner's Cafe at the health network's Miners Hospital Campus in Coaldale.Each month, a different diabetes relevant topic is explored. Topics are based on ways to improve blood sugar control and quality of life. Meetings are generally 45 minutes long and include a question and answer period.This month's meeting will be held on Sept. 17. Reservations are not required. This is a change in the schedule posted on the tax bills.Faith fellowshipThe Tamaqua Area Faith Fellowship Network is participating in this year's "Back to Church Sunday," part of a national movement of churches across America, to be observed on Sept. 15.On Sept. 12, Tamaqua Mayor Chris Morrison issued a special proclamation in regards to Tamaqua's observance of Back to Church Sunday.National "Back to Church Sunday" is an initiative that is "Inviting America Back to Church." It seeks to reach the "unchurched" and "de-churched"-people who once attended church, but don't any more-and invite them to return for a special Sunday.Everyone is welcome to attend the area church of his/her choice."Back to Church Sunday" has an interactive Facebook page at
