Three tax assessment appeals to be heard in Schuylkill Court

Hearings in the Schuylkill County Courthouse are being held by the Schuylkill County Assessment Appeals Board on appeals filed by property owners concerning assessments placed on their properties for 2014 tax year.

New Life In Christ Ministries, Inc., East Stroudsburg, appealed the assessment on a church property on Market Street, Blythe Township, claiming it has resumed holding services for the public but was unable to list a membership.The board ruled because of lack of evidence as to church activities made no change in the market value of the property, listed at $205,700 and assessed at $102,850. The ministry sought exemption.;James Saundes, Kempton, sought reduction on his mobile home on leased ground located at 2-8 Genesis Boulevard, New Ringgold, but the board ruled no change and the market value remains at $43,900 and assessment at $21,950.Judith Lederman-Laskey sought a reduction on her mobile home at 33 Angel Drive, Pines Mobile Home Park, New Ringgold, but the board ruled no change and the market value remains at $15,520 and assessment at $7,760.
