A surprise for train buffs

Steam locomotive number 425, which has been out of service for two years, has been restored and was utilized for train rides by the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway on Monday. It had been shown at Steamtown in Scranton on Saturday and Sunday as part of the railroad museum's Railfest, said Laura Kennedy, an official with Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway. The train hadn't been scheduled for Monday's rides, but proved to be a treat for train buffs. The locomotive was constructed in 1928. It is the only run anticipated for the scenic rides this year, although it will be used on the Port Clinton to Jim Thorpe excursion on Oct. 12 and 13. This photo was taken as the locomotive comes off the trestle near Glen Onoko.
