Mahoning Township Police charged Alexander Modawar, 33, of Tamaqua, with retail theft.

Police reported that Modawar was at Radio Shack on Route 443 in Mahoning Township on Aug. 30 when he fled the area in a Jeep Wrangler.When he was stopped by police, he had two stolen hand-held radio scanners valued at $699.98, according to the police.Records showed that Modawar had three prior retail theft convictions. As a result, he was charged as a felony offense.He was arraigned by District Judge Casimir Kosciolek of Lansford and was lodged in Carbon County Prison in lieu of bail which was set at $50,000 straight.
