State police in Lehighton charged Herman Ruiz, 29, of Hazleton, with driving under the influence (DUI) after he was stopped for a vehicle code violation.

The traffic stop took place at 11:36 p.m. Aug. 11 at state routes 209 and 534 in Polk Township, Monroe County.
