Carbon and Schuylkill counties received $73,175 in Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board licensing fees.

The amount is a slice of $2.4 million distributed statewide by PLCB, which oversees the regulation of more than 17,000 liquor licenses and permits statewide, including restaurants, clubs and beer distributors.Carbon County received $19,650, including $1,250 for Lansford, $1,350 for Lehighton, $2,900 for Jim Thorpe and $1,600 for Palmerton.Schuylkill County received $53,525, including $950 for Coaldale, $300 for New Ringgold, $3,950 for Tamaqua, and $1,450 for West Penn Township.As part of the annual license renewal or validation process, licensees and permittees pay a fee ranging from $125 to $700, based on the type of license and population of the municipality in which the license is located.As required by law, the PLCB returns the fees to those municipalities twice a year. The current dispersal period represents fees paid from Feb. 1 to July 31.In all, 56 cities, 561 boroughs and 801 townships received funds ranging from $25 to nearly $400,000.The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board regulates the distribution of beverage alcohol and also operates more than 600 Fine Wine & Good Spirits stores statewide.
