Carbon United Way event deemed a huge success

United Way of Carbon County's 6th Annual Cruise to the Music Festival & Car Show was held at Memorial Park in Jim Thorpe.

According to the UWCC co-chairs of the event Donna Lennon, president of the UWCC and Dr. Lisa Bleicher, board member, there was a nice turnout for the festival.UWCC board member Angela Nardini, vice president of marketing and campaigns, coordinated the entertainment and was the MC.Visitors enjoyed live entertainment, music of all genres including "Corey Wims", "The Mike William's Band", "Battle of the Genres/Dance & DJ's Choreographer", "Night Train", Jazz Guitarist/Musician "Thad Tinsley Jr.", "Pocono Region Pipes & Drums", "Freefall", "Kristopher Scherer"; Pianist & Classical Guitarist "Don Slepian", and "Karen Meeks & the Soul".There was free admission.All proceeds from the event will benefit the United Way of Carbon County and will go to aid local non-profit agencies in Carbon County.United Way of Carbon County's 2013 participating agencies include: American Red Cross; ARC of NE PA; Catholic Services DBA Big Brothers/Big Sisters; CTC Manufacturing; CCAC (Carbon County Action Committee); Diackon Lutheran Social Ministries; Family Promise; Girl Scouts of Eastern PA; Girl Scouts of the Heart of PA; Healthy Smiles; Human Resources Center; Meals on Wheels of Palmerton Inc.; North Penn Legal; Pathstone; Peaceful Knights; Penn State Cooperative Extension/Prosper Project; Salvation Army; and Shepherd house Inc.United Way of Carbon County is always looking for volunteers to help out UWCC, if interested, please contact Donna Lennon at 570-225-6788 or Dr. Lisa Bleicher at 570-242-2466.For further information visit UWCC at
