A Schuylkill County driver was cited following a one-vehicle crash that occurred about 5:37 p.m. on Aug. 23 along Bethel Road in Pine Grove Township. It was one of two crashes reported by state police at Schuylkill Haven.

Troopers said Jadene L. Hurst, 25, of Schuylkill Haven, was driving a 2001 Plymouth Neon northbound when the vehicle began to swerve on the road. Hurst applied her brakes, causing her to lose control.The vehicle went onto the berm and struck a guide rail, then went down an embankment, where it came to rest.Hurst suffered minor injuries and was taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center-S. Jackson Street, Pottsville.The vehicle had to be towed from the scene. Hurst was cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic.The second crash occurred about 4:43 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 23, along Bear Creek Street in Auburn. Troopers said Michael A. Kramer, 21, of Auburn, was driving a 1995 Chevrolet Cavalier southbound when he failed to negotiate a right curve in the road due to excessive speed. The car went onto the berm and struck a tree stump with its front end. Upon impact the car spun clockwise and struck a second tree with its left side where it came to rest.Kramer and his passenger, Laura F. Kline, 16, of Auburn, were injured and taken to the SMC-S. Troopers said Kramer was cited for driving a vehicle at an (un) safe speed.
