Muzzleloader club holding free youth match on Labor Day shoot

Blue Ridge Rifles Muzzleloader Club is holding a free 25-yard youth match for those 16 and younger at its Labor Day Rendezvous and Shoot. Shooting events will be held for men, women and youth Saturday, Aug. 31, and Sunday, Sept. 1 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days, with gates opening Friday, Aug. 30, at noon, and gates closing Monday, Sept. 2, at 2 p.m.

Paper matches are shot 25 and 50 yards for rifle, pistol and smoothbore, there is a primitive novelty match, knife and tomahawk and a primitive archery woods walk. This free presentation is presented by educator Franklin Klock of the Carbon County Environmental Center.At this time of year visitors have a 40-percent chance of seeing a bald eagle at Hawk Mountain's North Lookout, and a 52-percent chance between September 1 and September 15.
