Members of the Tamaqua Lions Club and its LEO Club dedicated three plaques on display at St. Luke's Hospital - Coaldale Campus to the late Erica Dolan of Tamaqua, a past Lion, LEO and community volunteer, who was killed last August when her car went off the Lentz Trail in Jim Thorpe and struck a tree broadside.

The plaques are part of a series of sponsored photograph and paint artworks on display at the hospital via the clubs' Art Of Caring Campaign.Lion Fran Stahl, who serves as a LEO Club adviser, said interest from the Art of Caring Endowment Fund benefits residents on the fifth Floor.Sponsoring the plaques were Stahl, mother Sue Dolan, Tamaqua Volunteers group, Tamaqua Lions Club and Tamaqua LEO Club."Erica started sketching at an early age with the 'Pappy Drew-It' show," said Sue. "She went on to design her own style of hemp jewelry with glass beads as well as other media. Celtic and Halloween were her favorite freehand themes."In school, Erica enjoyed crafting in many ways which carried over into her college years. She particularly enjoyed photography and was a member of the photography club, drama club, tennis team, and band, going from honor guard to silks and finally sideline percussion.In addition to her love of art and crafts, Erica would volunteer her time with numerous school and community groups. Such as deep inside the No. 9 Mine and Museum in Lansford, where she would be found dressed as spider woman getting a charge out of scaring tour groups."Anytime someone needed help with something, Erica was ready to assist," said Sue. "She even filled in on stage at Rocky Horror Picture Show benefits at the Angela Theater. Erica truly had a heart of gold."
