A Schuylkill County man was jailed on Sunday on sexual assault and related counts.

State police at Frackville said troopers responded to the Rodeway Inn, located along Altamont Boulevard in West Mahanoy Township, about 8 p.m. to a report of a simple assault incident. On scene troopers learned the victim had been sexually assaulted. The victim was transported to a Pottsville hospital for examination and treatment of moderate injuries.Apprehended at the scene a short time later was George S. Holmes, 49, of Ashland. He was arraigned by on-call District Judge James Reiley, of Pottsville, on charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, sexual assault, simple assault, and harassment. He was committed to the county prison after failing to post $50,000 cash bail.
