Allegedly broke into 76 vacant homes

Two Northampton County residents are accused of breaking into 76 vacant homes in Carbon, Lehigh, Northampton and Bucks counties, stealing more than $200,000 worth of copper, brass and other metal items they allegedly sold for scrap.

Kelly Ann Cunningham, 22, and Patrick Michael Quinn, 27, both of Hellertown, are in Lehigh County prison, each unable to post the $250,000 bail.Quinn faces 576 felony charges, including burglary, attempted burglary, criminal trespass, and conspiracy; Cunningham faces 305 felony charges, also including burglary, attempted burglary, conspiracy and criminal trespass.No one was home during the burglaries, which took place in the overnight hours between Nov. 23, 2012 and May 24 at homes that had been listed for sale.The two were arrested Aug. 14 by state police at Bethlehem. No preliminary hearing date had been scheduled as of early Monday. District Judge Michael J. Faulkner of Allentown has been assigned to the cases.Only one of the burglaries happened in Carbon County, in Lower Towamensing Township. Four were in Bucks County, 25 were in Lehigh County, and 46 in Northampton.According to affidavits of probable cause, the two went on the burglary spree to feed their heroin habits.
