Clothing swap this weekend for Panther Valley uniforms

If you are still in the market for Panther Valley school clothes, one mother has organized a way to help people obtain uniforms for their Panther Valley students at a low cost either a token donation or by swapping your outgrown clothing.

A Panther Valley School Clothing Swap will be held at the Summit Hill Heritage Center on Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., or until clothing runs out."I organized this event because school clothing can be expensive when you are dressing students and they grow out of them quickly so I thought it would be a great idea to provide a way for families to swap clothing their children outgrew for new clothing," said organizer Amy Beers.Beers organized this swap event just over a week ago through Facebook and has been accepting and sorting clothing over the last week."I have been picking up clothing from people up to Friday, "she said, "and if people bring clothing to swap on Saturday, we will sort it as it comes in."Parents will be able to swap uniform clothing by piece, or if they have nothing to trade, they can take the clothes they need for $5 per item. She said that while this is the first time this event is taking place, she is looking ahead to organizing a larger swap meeting in February."I would like to hold them twice a year, once in August before school starts and once in February after Christmas since many children have growth spurts through the year," she said. For more information, call Beers at (610) 714-2194.For those bringing clothing, she asks that the clothing match the regulations set in the Panther Valley Student Handbook and includes dress shoes, sneakers, sweatshirts, school shirts and pants, sweaters, coats and sports equipment. All items should be stain free and with no rips or tears, as well as cleaned.
