Two Tamaqua area men among 17 to enter guilty pleas in court

Two Tamaqua area men were among 17 who entered guilty pleas to criminal charges in Schuylkill County Court and were sentenced by Judge James P. Goodman as follows:

Justin E. McArdle, 26, of 426 Arlington St., Tamaqua, two counts of driving under the influence (DUI) of a controlled substance (CS), and was sentenced to serve 18 days to 12 months in the county prison, pay $2,000 in fines, $200 to Substance Abuse Education (SAE) fund, $100 to Catastrophe fund, $920 to Schuylkill Medical Center (SMC), attend safety school, and perform 20 hours of community service.McArdle was first cited by Coaldale Patrolman Joseph Krebs, on Aug. 26, 2012, after his vehicle snapped a utility pole in the 100 block on West High Street. The second citation was issued by Tamaqua Patrolman Michael Hobbs, for an incident last March.,Anthony Louis Kehl, 42, of 27 Tuscarora Park Road, Tamaqua, possession of drug paraphernalia, sentenced to serve 87 days to 12 months in the county prison with credit for serving 87 days, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to Criminal Justice Enhancement Account (CJEA) fund, a $50 fee to district attorney's office for bench warrant, and perform 10 hours of community service.Kehl was cited by Tamaqua Patrolman Michael Hobbs, on Jan. 25, 2012, in a mini mart parking lot.Robert Benjamin Bowers III, 26, Pottsville, DUI of CS, sentenced to served 72 hours to six months in the county prison, fined $1,000, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, $60 to SMC, attend safety school, perform 20 hours community service, and driver's license suspended 12 months. On summary charges of driving while license suspended was fined $200 and careless driving fined $25 plus $100 costs. Bowers was cited by Trooper John B. Carr when stopped on June 27, 2 012, in Pottsville.Rhiannon L. Meyer, 35, Shenandoah, carrying a firearm without a license and theft of a television from the home of Michael Zulko,100 Pennsylvania Avenue, and Shenandoah Heights, placed on probation 23 months, pay $100 to CJEA fund. He was cited by Shenandoah Patrolman Robert Senape, for the firearms violation and by West Mahanoy Township Patrolman Lance Monaghan, for theft charge.Ashley Ann Capiga, 24, Shenandoah, defiant trespass in a vacant apartment on West Coal Street, Shenandoah, last October, sentenced to serve one to 11 months in the county prison to begin at the expiration of a sentence now serving for retail theft, and pay $50 to CJEA fund. Capiga was cited by Shenandoah Patrolman Christopher Zuber.Belinda Jade Moore, 23, Hegins, Hegins Township, possession of drug paraphernalia at her home, placed on probation 12 months, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA fund, and $50 to district attorney for bench warrant . On the charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana was given a concurrent 30 days probation sentence. Moore was cited by Pine Grove Cpl. Beau James Yarmush.Brian Earl Erdman, 34, Spring Glen, Hubley Township, DUI of CS, sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in county prison with the sentence to begin Monday, Aug. 19, at 10 a.m, fined $1,000, pay $100 to SAE fund,$50 to Catastrophe fund, $50 to district attorney, $460 to SMC, attend safety school, perform 10 hours community service, and driver's license suspended 12 months.On a charge of carrying a firearm without a license must serve 12 additional months on probation and on a summary charge of failing to drive at a safe speed was fined $25 plus costs. Erdman was cited by Trooper Robert Oakley when stopped last Dec. 30 on Gap Street in Hegins Township.Gary William Marx, 25, Port Carbon, criminal mischief to motor vehicles parked in 300 block on Coal Street, Port Carbon, placed on probation 12 months, pay $50 to CJEA fund, perform 10 hours of community service, and make restitution of $1,664.15 to Lee Strause, and $150 to David Quinter. Marx was cited by Trooper John B. Carr last Jan. 5.George Willliam Miller, 52. Hazleton, DUI of alcohol, sentenced to serve 48 hours to six months in the county prison, fined $500, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, $60 to SMC, attend safety school, receive outpatient treatment, and driver's license suspended 12 months. On a summary charge of failing to have a working rear light was fined $25 plus $50 costs. Miller was cited by McAdoo Patrolman William Michael Curilla, last Dec. 8.Kayla Marie Perry, 20, Schuylkill Haven, possession of drug paraphernalia when stopped in Schuylkill Haven for check on window tint, placed on probation 12 months, pay $100 to SAE fund, and $50 to CJEA fund. Perry was cited by Schuylkill Haven Patrolman David T. George, last March 15.Christopher B. White, 27, Weatherly, possession of drug paraphernalia in a mini mart parking lot in Tamaqua, placed on probation 12 months, pay $100 to SAE fund, and $50 to CJEA fund. White was cited by Tamaqua Police Chief Richard Weaver, last Jan. 23.Rachael A. Zellers, 37, 435 1/2 S. Kennedy Drive, McAdoo, DUI of alcohol, placed on probation six months, fined $300, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, attend safety school and perform 10 hours community. Zellers was cited by McAdoo Patrolman William Curilla, last Sept. 21.Michael Joseph McNulty, 45, Minersville, DUI of alcohol, sentenced to serve 48 hours to six months in the county prison with the sentence to begin Wednesday, Aug. 28, at 9 a.m., fined $500, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, $60 to SCM, attend safety school, perform 10 hours community service, license suspended 12 months, and make restitution of $1,000 to William Azbill for unauthorized use of his car. On a summary charge of driving a vehicle while his license was suspended was fined $200 plus $50 costs. McNulty was cited by Butler Township Lt. Daniel Holdeman, on March 24, 2012.Michael George Reno, 47, Pottsville, simple assault on Lori Jane Reno, Mechanicsville, placed on probation 12 months, pay $50 to CJEA fund, perform 10 hours of community service, and make restitution of $3,926.04 to victim.Michael John Kendell, 28, Quakertown, recklessly endangering another person, placed on probation 12 months, and pay $50 to CJEA fund. Kendell was cited by Schuylkill Haven Patrolman Kenneth A. Jacoby.Kevin Warren Warmkessel, 24, Port Carbon, formerly of Lake Hauto, Rush Township, pleaded nolle contendre (no defense) to possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance.The court ordered he be committed to a state prison for evaluation to determine whether he shall be sentenced to the state's Intermediate Punishment Program (IPP).Kendell was cited by Tamaqua Patrolman Matthew Houser, when stopped in a parking lot of a food market in the 200 block on Centre Street last November.Each defendant sentenced must also pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
