The Panther Valley School Board agreed, with member Roy Angst opposed, to purchase 32 cameras and six audio recording devices for school buses. Angst said he voted against the $10,770 purchase from Zentinel, because it was an "unnecessary expense."

The action was taken Thursday.School board President Jeff Markovich said the equipment includes "added security" measures, but would not say what they were.Kistler Transportation has agreed to reimburse the district for half the cost, or $5,385. The cost will be paid through the district's maintenance budget.The board also agreed to allow teenagers under the supervision of the Carbon County juvenile court office to perform their court-ordered community service projects by cleaning up the Panther Valley School District stadium in Lansford the day after football games.In other matters Thursday, the board:• Approved a contract with Behavioral Health Associates, with Angst opposing;• Approved an on-site computer technician services fee of $73,428.14 for the 2013-14 school year. The services are for five days a week through the Carbon-Lehigh Intermediate Unit 21;• Accepted the resignation of elementary life skills support teacher Amanda Peters;• Agreed, with Angst opposed, to hang a 50th anniversary sign in the stadium;• Changed the status of former volunteer football coach Ryan Fritzinger to a paid position at $1,800;• Hired Jim Barron and Chris McLaughlin as junior high school girls basketball coaches at $1,200 each, and Brad Hurley as a volunteer coach;• Approved Jill Zwiesdak and Jennifer Bensinger as softball coaches, without salaries;• Retained the Vanak Detective Agency from July 1 through June 30, 2014 at $16 per man hour for unarmed security.
