A Schuylkill County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following a one vehicle crash that occurred about 2:47 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 4, in which he sustained serious injuries.

State police at Frackville said Victor S. Hons, 20, of Fern Glen, was driving a 1997 Ford Aspire northbound on Mountain Road, in North Union Township, when he lost control. The Ford went onto the west berm and struck a tree with the right side.Hons was injured and transported to the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he was admitted in serious condition, troopers said. Troopers said at the scene the odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected coming from Hons.The DUI charge is pending blood test results, troopers added. The vehicle sustained heavy damages and was towed from the scene.
