Speed blamed for Carbon crash

Speed was blamed for a one-vehicle crash that occurred about 4:25 p.m. on Monday, July 29, along Trachsville Hill Road in Towamensing Township, Carbon County.

State police at Lehighton said Troy A. Bryfogle, 50, of Palmerton, was driving a 1999 Chevrolet Malibu eastbound and approaching a left hand curve. Bryfogle drove off the road and into a wood line for about 225 feet. The car struck a traffic sign, multiple small trees, and a utility pole. The car rolled one time counter-clockwise before coming to rest about 25 feet off the berm of the road.Bryfogle and his passenger, Emma Bryfogle, 6, of Palmerton, sustained minor injuries but refused medical treatment. The car was towed from the scene.Troopers cited Bryfogle for driving a vehicle at an (un) safe speed.Assisting at the scene were volunteers from the Towamensing Fire Company and Palmerton ambulance personnel.
