Christopher Czapla, principal of the Tamaqua Area Middle School, has announced an orientation session will be held Aug. 5, beginning at 6:30 p.m.Parents of sixth graders, as well as seventh and eighth graders new to the district, are welcome to attend.Information will be presented on student schedules, activities, facilities and discipline.Individuals will meet in the school district auditorium, then have the opportunity to tour the building accompanied by student guides. Topics for discussion will be the annual picnic, to be held Aug. 11 at the Mahoning Township Grove, and the 99th Annual Lithuanian Days celebration, Aug. 10-11 at the Schuylkill Mall in Frackville.St. John LutheranThe Rev. Jeffrey Kistler will officiate at the 9:15 a.m. worship service this Sunday in St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. The service will include Holy Communion.The finance and worship/music committees will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 8. Information for the September issue of the Messenger is due by Aug. 14.
