Clothing give-away

St. John's Lutheran Church, 319 South Ave., will begin their 2013 free clothing giveaway on Thursday, Aug. 2 and it will run through Saturday, Aug. 17. Days and times are as follows; Thursday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Fridays, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. If you wish more information call the church office at (570) 325-4255 and leave a message; someone will return your call.Touchdown ClubThe Jim Thorpe Touchdown Club will hold its meeting on Monday, Aug. 5, at 6 p.m. in the commons area of the high school. Parents, friends and other relatives interested in the football program are invited to attend the monthly meetings. New projects for the upcoming season will be discussed at this meeting.WELCAThe local chapter of WELCA will meet in the auditorium of St. John's Lutheran Church, 6th and North streets, on Aug. 20, at 7 p.m. Guest speaker will be Marian Cole. She was a nurse during World War II taking care of prisoners of war.
