Tamaqua man facing drug-related charges

A Tamaqua man faces charges following an incident in the borough on July 10.

Police were dispatched to the Burger King parking lot at 9:50 p.m. for suspicious activity on the south side of the lot. Patrolman Anthony Stanell responded and observed three occupants of a white minivan making furtive movements as he approached. When asked, all three said they were just talking.When asked if there was anything illegal in the car, the rear seat passenger, Joshua Robert McArdle, 22, of 426 Arlington St., Tamaqua, admitted having a marijuana bowl in a bookbag. Next to the bookbag was a small plastic container, which also contained a glass bulb type smoking device. The bowl from McArdle's bag was wrapped in a bandanna, which also contained a small purple baggie containing a crystalline substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine.The other two occupants denied any knowledge of the bowls and the crystal meth.McArdle was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
