Although the hot and humid weather continued over the weekend, it did not seem to affect the guests who attended the annual Lehighton Community Block Party.

"My prayers were heard," said SS. Peter and Paul School Principal Sherry Sernak. "We did not have any rain during the block party."The three-day event included live entertainment, games, homemade food, vendors, and more.According to Sernak, the events on Saturday seemed to be most popular - pulling in the highest attendance. These additional events included a soap box derby, Lehighton Idol Contest with cash prizes, and the "I Don't Want to be a Duck" Race."Our soap box derby is so popular that we are thinking of planning one for the fall," said Sernak. She noted that Gary Reed provides several of the cars every year for children to participate in the soap box derby."The duck race is also very popular," added Sernak.
