Schuylkill crashes

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on two crashes investigated by troopers recently in Schuylkill County.

A crash was reported about 11:48 a.m. on Sunday, July 21, along SR61, at the intersection with Drehersville Road in Deer Lake borough.Troopers said Brian J. Romeo, 41, of Orwigsburg, was attempting to pull out from Drehersville Road while Paul E. Kutzler, 39, of Hamburg, was northbound on 61. Romeo pulled out onto 61 and into the northbound lane where his 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer was struck by Kutzler's 2000 Ford Explorer. Upon impact the Ford rolled over and came to rest on its roof facing southbound.Kutzler and passengers Jackie Kutzler, 39, Brodie Kutzler, 7, and Carter Kutzler, 4, all of Hamburg, were injured and taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. The adults sustained moderate injuries and the two juveniles minor injuries, troopers said. Romeo was not injured.Troopers cited Romeo for duty at stop signs.A one-vehicle crash was reported at 4:26 a.m. on Monday, July 22, at the intersection of state routes 895 and 61 in Deer Lake borough. Troopers said Steven Gundrum, 46, of Schuylkill Haven, was driving a 1997 Volkswagen Jetta eastbound on 895 and failed to stop for a stop sign at 61, a T-intersection. The front of the Jetta impacted with the guide rails east of 61, and came to rest on the east berm.Gundrum sustained head and facial injuries but refused medical treatment. He was cited for stop sign and seat belt violations.
