A dropped cigarette was blamed for a one-vehicle crash that occurred about 5:07 p.m. on Sunday, July 14 along Ann Street in Norwegian Township, Schuylkill County.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Edward J. Castellano, 48, of Pottsville was driving a 2007 Dodge Nitro northbound when he dropped a cigarette onto the floor. He reached down to pick it up and his vehicle left the road and struck a dirt embankment.After impact with the embankment the car overturned onto its roof. Castellano was not injured. Damages were moderate to the Dodge, which had to be towed from the scene.Castellano was cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic, troopers said.
