Bicycle recovered in Tamaqua

Tamaqua police were able to recover a bicycle stolen from the rear of the Tamaqua Salvation Army on July 6.

Patrolman Keith Krapf was dispatched to 105 W. Broad St. at 6:22 p.m. after Sharon Whispell called to report that her daughter's bike had been removed from under the rear steps of the building. Video surveillance captured the incident and the thief was identified as Albert M. Shaw, 29, of 33 Mauch Chunk St. (rear), Tamaqua.When contacted, Shaw told the officer he believed it was okay to remove the bike as he thought it was a donation.Shaw was charged with theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.
