A Schuylkill County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) of a controlled substance following an incident on Tuesday, July 9.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Michael James Kirkland, 29, of Pine Grove, was stopped along SR183, at Meadowbrook Drive, in Wayne Township, for traveling at an unsafe speed.It was learned that Kirkland had an outstanding warrant for his arrest on drug charges. A consent search of the vehicle revealed various drugs and drug paraphernalia.Kirkland was also found to be under the influence. The DUI charge is pending blood test results, troopers added.
