Kim Gear, left, the Youth Market director at the American Heart Association of Northeast PA, presented the Fit-Friendly Gold Achievement Award for 2013 to Pleasant Valley School District as a Fit-Friendly worksite. The Fit-Friendly Worksite Recognition program is an award given by the AHA's "My Heart. My Life. My Initiative." It is intended to be a catalyst for positive change in the workplace across America. It recognizes worksites for making the health and wellness of the employee a priority. Accepting the award is, center, Bonnie Grammes, PVSD's food services director. Right, Dr. Douglas Arnold, PVSD's superintendent, said that Grammes did a vast amount of work in order to achieve this recognition, along with the district's wellness committee, and the award was well deserved.
