Fight leads to several charges

A Tamaqua man has been cited following an altercation outside of Freddy's Pub, 14 Mauch Chunk St., on June 26.

Borough police were dispatched to the bar at 1:40 a.m. for a fight in progress. As they responded the Schuylkill County Communications Center provided an update, noting that one of the individuals had left the scene in a red pick up truck. A witness was following the truck, providing updates.The truck was found on East Broad Street and a male was observed walking away from the vehicle. That male was stopped and identified as Jay Nicholas Beil, of 301 W. Broad St.The victim was identified as Geoffrey Yesavage, 22, of 210 Orwigsburg St. Yesavage told officers he had been in the pub drinking with Beil minutes before the fight. When Yesavage went outside, Beil followed him and began hitting and punching him in the head and face. Witnesses supported Yesavage, who was transported to St. Luke's Miners Hospital, Coaldale.Beil was in an intoxicated condition and was transported to the police station where he proved to be uncooperative. He was cited for simple assault, harassment, disorderly conduct, and public drunkenness.
